Dear Colleague,
Welcome to Biotechnology Havana 2012 to be held on March 5-9, 2012 in Havana, Cuba.
In the frame of the series of scientific meetings BiotecnologÃa Habana, the 2012 edition will focus the attention on the Medical Applications of Biotechnology. Later editions have gathered about 800 participants from more than 30 countries. Renowned specialists including Nobel Laureates in Medicine and Chemistry delivered Plenary Conferences and Key Lectures. Last versions of Medical Application of Biotechnology were held on November 2006 and 2009 with great success due to the scientific level of conferences delivered by the Invited Speakers, the Poster sessions and the open and frankly atmosphere created for discussions. The main topics of discussions were Infectious Diseases, Cancer Biology, OMICS and Neuroregeneration. Because of the expressed interest of the attendees to continue focusing on the impact of Biotechnology in the biomedical fields of Cancer and Infectious Diseases, these two topics are again included in this edition. The OMICS discussions will be integrated in a Symposium looking for the functional linkage of Pharmacogenomic, Proteomics and Bioinformaticsfor drug analysis and evaluation as well as identification and validation of biomarkers. Due to it nowadays incidence on human health, Neurodegeneration will be focused as well. Two new Symposia will be added: Cardiovascular Diseases and Inflammation/ Autoimmune Diseases.
As a novelty, Biotechnology Havana 2012 edition will also cover three Satellite Symposia on Dengue Vaccine, Glycomics and HIV Vaccine and Therapy, we would like to exchange ideas in these fields with the researchers from all over the world, and hopefully get some hints to solve the common problems and find some areas of mutual interest to start joint projects.
We therefore invite you to submit your results to the congress!
The four-days Conference will gather some of the world's top researchers and specialists, key business and investment leaders. This offers the opportunity to researchers and professionals from all over the world of sharing and discussing results and experiences related with these hot topics. We encourage you to attend this meeting which promises to be a fertile ground for scientific exchange and collaboration.
