This scientific meeting is designed to provide medical oncologists, infectious disease specialists, and other interested healthcare professionals with the most salient aspects of the etiology, diagnosis, and state-of-the-art management of febrile neutropenia.
Topics are selected each year from recent developments in the field, current controversies and complicated cases. The highly interactive format includes 4 sessions; each comprised of a state of the art presentationlecture, followed by a cutting-edge research presentations relating to the topic, a case discussion focusing on the practical application of the topic, and a summary. There is always opportunity for extensive discussion of the presented data. |

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
* Discuss and evaluate the clinical use of prophylactic versus empiric or preemptive therapy of fungal infections in febrile neutropenic patients
* Discuss the appropriate selection and practical utilization of replacement antibiotics for therapy of infections caused by resistant bacteria in febrile neutropenic patients
* Describe the role of native immunity on susceptibility and severity of infection in patients with febrile neutropenia
* Identify and assess management strategies for infections in patients undergoing stem cell transplant from alternative sources and donors
* Compare current and emerging therapies in the prevention and management of patients with febrile neutropenia
